HOW TO PIN YOUR WAY TO THE PERFECT WEDDING Pinterest is taking over the world of wedding planning, how to be in on the act.

The question was popped, the family told, the date set...now what? Increasingly the first place that most newly engaged couples turn to is Pinterest. It seems the obvious choice, being one of the fastest growing social media platforms out there today. In fact, a fair few pinners already have a head start on the planning pins with an incredible 70% of users admitting to having already made wedding boards before they are even engaged,   http://mashable.com/2014/07/21/social-media-wedding-survey/.

The sheer volume of images on Pinterest is staggering, it can be a little daunting, not to mention time consuming wading your way through it all. The best wedding plan? Find some top-notch pinners whose wedding boards you can follow. And, as well as popular wedding pinners, pinterest can be a great place to check out potential wedding venues. When you’ve found a venue, have a look at their pinterest profile, they are going to have a loads of wedding ideas suitable for their location. The same goes for your wedding dress designer.

But, first up, my favourites...

Pin down a venue:

There really isn’t a limit to how much you can use Pinterest in your wedding planning, as well as a source of inspiration and general wedding ideas it can be used to find everything from your caterer to your wedding venue. The attraction? You get to see not just the venue’s official photos, but also every image taken there that has ever been pinned, the whole picture in every sense. All in one place.

A search for ‘wedding venues uk’ comes up with not just locations, but all kinds of pins. The amount of pins on this platform mean that it’s easy to be more specific with your search, say, ‘wedding venues Worcestershire’.

From there you can find the venue that has been getting the most pins, in this case, ‘Birtsmorton Court, http://www.birtsmortoncourt.com/’ and it’s then a hop, skip and a jump to check out their own pins and get a good idea of how a wedding at their venue might look.

The joy of pinterest is that once you have found a few boards or pinners to like and follow similar pins will start popping up for you automatically, so in effect the job is being half done for you. You just have to start pinning.

Who to follow:

Wedding Chicks have a pretty impressive collection of boards on every wedding category you could think of. They’ve stacked up over 25,000 pins! Following these boards alone is sure to keep you busy. http://uk.pinterest.com/weddingchicks/. Helpfully, their boards are clearly set up so you can pick and choose what you want to see.

Style Me Pretty is one of the hottest wedding blogs on the web today, and their pinterest boards are amazing. 120 boards, nearly 6 million followers they are a wedding force to be reckoned with. There are a lot of pins here though so my advice would be to follow just the boards that you like so as not not spend years on your wedding planning.

If all the pale pinks and gleaming white boards are a bit sickly sweet for you, if you are planning a bit of an anti-wedding wedding then try Stone Fox Bride. They make good wedding dresses, they also make good boards. A different take on bridal inspiration.
